Small World Theatre created a new exciting project ‘Gyda’n Gilydd’ to work with local schools which was supported by the Dewi Davies Endowment Fund. In March and April 2016, the older members of local communities of Aberporth, Beulah and Llechryd were invited to bring their stories and experiences about the benefits and reality of living in west Wales to Public Meetings.
Using drama techniques, the two generations from small communities explored ideas and created an exciting presentation. The project culminated in a final performance at Small World Theatre, which brought over 120 people from all three communities together in July 2016.
Small World Theatre’s intergenerational projects are great fun to be involved in and produce fantastic results. Here’s some lovely feedback from pupils taking part in workshops at Beulah Primary School:
“It was my favourite lesson. Thank you to Delyth and Carol for a lovely morning-you made my day!” Tia, Year 6
“We played a game where we had to pretend to be an older person. It was a lot of fun-and I think the final show will be fun too!” Hollie, Year 3
