Emma Lohan & Julian’s SKAfterparty

October 26 @ 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm

- £10

Emma Lohan is a London-based singer songwriter making waves on the underground UK and Irish Folk Scenes. Her astoundingly beautiful and unique music is described as ‘Atlantic-folk meets ethno-pop’.

Come celebrate the launch of Black Atlantic with Emma and her crew this autumn!! Releasing on iTunes, Google Play and more 25/10/18. Working closely with stop motion visualist Marta Barcikowska, they have created a nostalgic audio visual trip, in TECHNICOLOR, using old photographs from Emma’s family holiday in France when she was 7. “Show me the child at 7 and I will show you the man”

Well here she is ‘the man’. Same haircut, same enthusiasm, but this time backed by a stellar 6-piece band comprised of horns, strings, synths, and wild guitar grooves. Mastered by the pioneering UK dub producer/selector Nick Manasseh.

Black Atlantic is a collection of sounds Emma picked up on her travels along the Atlantic coast from her homeland in Ireland to West Africa and South America. Her unique vocal style has been likened to Dolores O’Riordan with the lyricism of Leonard Cohen.

Join Emma on her live audio/visual experience to two unique venues. The refurbished warehouse of NT’s Bar in London Fields 25/10 and the beautiful surroundings of Small World Theatre in west Wales 26/10. Her hilarious, natural, carefree approach to life and performance is infectious and will put you at ease to let go and enjoy the moment. To experience Black Atlantic live is to be taken on a whirlwind musical trip that embraces you from the first note. With upbeat guitar licks, rich harmonies, honest lyrics and
beautiful arrangements Lohan invites you to forget everything and just dance and sing and maybe hug a stranger… and you probably will!

With Julian’s Reluctant SKAfterparty playing a live set, there’ll be plenty to keep everyone on the dance floor!

“Emma’s put out some gorgeous new music and has continued to mark herself out as one of *the* talents to watch on the London folk scene”Folkroom Fortnightly
