Flying Atoms

Performed by Dawns Powys

Professors Gusto and Hitch work hard in the Laboratory of Curiosity answering questions: how do birds stay in the air? Where does the moon go in the daytime? Only one thing is certain – the universe is filled with wonder and not everything is as it seems.

Following a successful run at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and hugely popular tour of Science Festivals last autumn, the Professors are back on the road, taking the lab out across Wales.
A playful, interactive show, wowing audiences with high-flying aerial dance, a magical soundtrack and stunning design. Suitable for everyone aged 6 +.

Children were ALL fascinated. Wonderful looks of awe and wonder.

I loved it all. We live in a wonderland.

Moving Bodies | Empty Spaces

Exploring Freedom through Dance Improvisation

An opportunity to engage with Kirstie Simson and her passionate interest in the liberating experience of dance, improvisation and the exploration of freedom. Imagine what our relationship would be to dancing if we had no prior notion about what the moving body should look or feel like. Participants work beyond culturally conditioned expectations and other limitations. They will celebrate movement using practices that Kirstie has developed over thirty-five years of teaching dance improvisation.

Suitable for ages 15+. Please note that under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Some movement experience recommended, but not absolutely necessary.

EXHALACIÓN | AIRE ~ a solo dance performance

Kirstie Simson will share her passion for the exploration of freedom through the solo she will present in this evening of dance improvisation.

Through the use of humour, eye contact, dialogue and proximity, the performer invites the audience to join her on a journey as she negotiates her way through present moment decision-making that is inherent in improvised performances. With light-hearted spontaneity this master performer affirms the fundamental positivity of life as she dances her way through this forty-five minute work, celebrating the depth of human connection and potentiality.

The performance will be followed by a short question and answer session with the artist.

This solo is dedicated to my mother Jean, who encouraged me to pursue my passion for dance.
