Res Publica is a new musical touring show starring virtuoso violinist Ben Sutclife, co-founder and composer Zaid Al-Rikabi and a ‘virtual orchestra’ AKA The People’s String Foundation. The live duo packs the 32-piece Gypsy Orchestra into a suitcase and takes them on tour to perform their newest album release ‘Res Publica’ to audiences nationwide. This music is sure to set your heart racing, get your toes tapping, warm the soul using music, puppetry, art, cinematography and animation. The story is one of a solitary soul, a marionette puppet searching for meaning during these turbulent times. Twinned with the lead musician’s violin and edited to slip seamlessly in and out of the orchestral footage, the puppet’s journey takes the audience on an emotional and intriguing journey. Res Publica is an unique project that combines many art forms to create one immersive and exhilarating show created by talented film and theatre professionals.
The second half of the show offers the audience the chance to hear The People’s String Foundation’s most popular songs and compositions from their time working as musical directors for companies such as Kneehigh and Rogue Theatre and The Minack.
