The quartet carreg bica are neighbours and friends who live close to each other on the two banks of the Teifi river. They focus on the musical heritage of their area and, through the weave of their voices, the exquisite touch of their instruments, they explore all the possibilities offered to them by the melody.
The treatment is based on playing the music together in heterophony and on the whispered sounds of the tunes, with emphasis placed on embellishing the melodies in a way which is native to their instruments, in contrast to the more recent trend of placing emphasis on harmony and arrangements.
The melodies themselves range from melancholy to lively, from old to new. carreg bica also offer up a song or two.
