CELEBRITY bugs commissioned by Venue Cymru for host town Abergele. As jungle fever grips Abergele, preparations to welcome the celebrities of the popular ITV show ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get me out of here.’ are underway. Small World Theatre was delighted to be asked to create three giant insects. “It was challenging finding materials during the firebreak” said artistic director Bill Hamblett “but creating giant structures from reclaimed and repurposed materials is something we love to do”.

Small World Theatre considers the impact on the environment when making all its work. Famous for touring the giant sea monster ‘Clean Seas Cragen’ to LLAWN Festival and the Beaumaris Food Festival in 2018, Small World Theatre’s work raises awareness of the climate crisis and the natural world we live in. “A grasshopper, acorn weevil and a stag beetle were chosen because they are all important for the conservation of the rich biodiversity in this area” said artist Ann Shrosbree “We hope they bring smiles to the town”. This year’s show continues at Gwrych Castle near Abergele.
