Giant Lantern Parade lights up Cardigan!

Small World Theatre delighted the community and visitors alike with a creative and imaginative Giant Lantern Parade on 7 December 2018 thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

The Parade followed the ‘Year of the Sea’ theme in Wales. It inspired sea creature lantern designs made by community groups and local schools, as well as hundreds of smaller ship lanterns made by the public. The Parade quickly became known as the ‘Fish ‘n’ Ships’ lantern parade as the town prepared for its 3rd spectacular annual Winter procession.

Small World Theatre partnered Cardigan Castle and worked with Cardigan Town Centre Partnership, Cardigan County Agricultural Show Committee, J J Morris, Swallow Yachts, Paul Oakley and an army of stewards and volunteers to ensure that the event was a success. The Parade wound its way through the streets until it reached the Castle where there were fire jugglers, delicious food provided by Kitchen 1176 and a fantastic fireworks display.

Small World Theatre’s sea monster Cragen made a special illuminated appearance on the River Teifi at Prince Charles Quay, marking the end of her magnificent tour
