Parades and outdoor theatre

We make puppetry of all scales and giant puppet performances are our speciality.

Our giant puppet performances are mostly outdoors, at festivals or events. They offer spectacle and a showstopper, as well as highlighting strong environmental and cultural themes. Small World Theatre’s giant puppets and lantern sculptures can be booked for your event. Please visit the gallery to view the current collections of giant puppets available.

Giant puppet creates links between past and present.

one of our most recent giant puppets is Dewi Sant commissioned by the Ancient Connections project 2022-23. Small World Theatre delivered public events at the start and end of their international project. We created two very special occasions in St Davids in 2022-23. Our giant puppet led the proceedings that included a community parade, a programme of performance, song, guided walks, a medieval marketplace, traditional skills demos and film screenings. We marked the achievements of the Ancient Connections project in Wales and the launch of Wexford Pembrokeshire Pilgrim Way. Thanks to the project, we have been part of a celebration of communities past and present that have created future links between North Wexford and North Pembrokeshire. May 2023

We delight communities and visitors alike with creative and imaginatively themed Giant Lantern Parades.

We create spectacular parades and processions for events working closely with clients. We highly recommend this type of event to engage, inspire and attract all ages and abilities.

We begin by sharing ideas with our partners/clients and organising lantern making workshops in schools, colleges, community groups and for families. Our recent clients and projects include the opening event for Yr Egin/S4C/University Wales trinity St David, Cardigan's Giant Lantern Parades (attracting 13,500 visitors to the market town in 2019) Swansea's St Davids Day Parades and more.
